The Independence Farmers' Market Pavilion

Overview and History

The Independence Farmers' Market, a vibrant community hub in Independence, Kentucky, connects local farmers, artisans, and residents through fresh, locally sourced goods. Operating seasonally since 2008, it was initially known as the SK Farmers' Market before rebranding. Originally located in the Simon Kenton parking lot before moving to the Kenton County Courthouse. (It moved in 2020 to the Independence Senior and Community Center at 2001 Jack Woods Parkway due to courthouse renovations).

Managed by the City of Independence with support from Kenton County, the market is part of the Kentucky Proud program, sanctioned by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. It runs from the first Saturday in May until the last Saturday in October, typically on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Beginning on May 3, 2025 the market moved to a new permanent pavilion at the Kenton County Courthouse and now has potential for winter operations.

A Growing Legacy

From its roots at the Simon Kenton parking lot to the Kenton County courthouse to Memorial Park to its permanent home now at The Pavilion on the Courthouse grounds, the market continues to thrive as a community cornerstone.

The market is held at the Kenton County Courthouse, 5272 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Located just 15 minutes from Interstate 275 via KY Highway 17 South, it's easily accessible for residents and visitors.
